Data Services Policies

Sales of Data

We will provide information derived from three sources:

  • Public charities' IRS Forms 990 and 990-EZ—the information form that exempt organizations with gross receipts above $25,000 file annually
  • IRS Forms 990-PF—the information form that private foundations of all income levels file annually
  • IRS Business Master File (BMF)

Although IRS Forms 990, 990-EZ, and 990-PF are public records, we honor requests from 501(c)(3) organizations that wish to remove their information from all Data Services requests.

We do not make available the private contact information (including e-mail addresses) that organizations provide directly to us, nor do we sell information we collect from the purchasers of GuideStar data.

Payment

We require payment before fulfilling a Data Services request. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We will also accept checks or money orders, although they may be subject to verification before we can process a Data Services request.

Data Usage

Information is provided for one-time use only and may be used only for outreach, marketing, and research purposes. Any other uses must be agreed to through a negotiated license agreement. If you want to use the data more than once, please talk to our Data Services team about a multiple-use License. We seed our data sets with decoy names to track and detect any misuse. Unauthorized or fraudulent use of information provided through GuideStar Data Services will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Cancellations

Unless you receive a damaged or blank file, all sales are final. No refunds, exchanges, or credits will be given.

Time Required and Special Processing

We require 3-5 business days to process your order upon confirmation of payment.

Limit of Liability and Accuracy

We provide data for lawful purposes only. We shall not be liable for any damage or losses sustained by the licensee through the use of information acquired through GuideStar Data Services. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of the data, including but not limited to telephone numbers, duplicate copies of information, and accuracy of data or usage results. Further, we shall not be liable for any special or consequential damages, including but not limited to printing, postage, and processing.
